Have I mentioned that I'm against capital punishment?

So basically I don't really know what I'm talking about but I'm still angry about it. And that's pretty normal for me.

We're going to court this afternoon to get guardianship of Meg. It shouldn't take long, but we have to lug the wheelchair around because there's poor parking at the courthouse and Meg can't walk that far.

I'm writing. It's coming along really well. My Awake fusion (which is sorta like the Watches 'verse in Sherlock fandom? but different) has plot now. I know where it's going. I just ... am having trouble getting there. But I will prevail! :D?

And then settiai just posted saying that it was posted on Facebook that she's passed away.

I have a life because of her. I have friends because of her. I don't know what I would've done if she'd never been in my life. I don't know what else to say.

So, this morning I wake up with two words in my brain, and I had no idea what they meant. Flotsam and jetsam. So I look it up and the Google Machine tells me that they are maritime words to describe a wreck.

Flotsam is floating wreckage of a ship or its cargo. Jetsam is part of a ship, its equipment, or its cargo that is purposefully cast overboard or jettisoned to lighten the load in time of distress and that sinks or is washed ashore - wiki

I do not know where I picked these up, but dreaming about vocabulary words is MUCH BETTER than dreaming about my ex, which is what I've been doing all week.

This post was to remind you all that [ profile] tw_holidays is still posting fics, and is possibly wrapping up soon? Many many fics have been posted so far, one of them mine (though I can't tell you which one, that would be cheating!). The reveal is January 5th.

But I should also say that [community profile] snape_potter is still posting fics for Secret Snarry Swap and some of the fics are just magnificent. I haven't had the time to read most of either of these fests, but I will say what I have read has been quality stuff. And yeah, I wrote for this fest too, and I'm floored by the reception my fic has gotten. I have NO IDEA when the reveal is, though. So I will just sit on the link to my own fic for now.

I am on the DW Love Meme here. Leave a comment or seven, leave your own name, and post about it so it gets spread 'round. I believe [personal profile] jjhunter is going to stop unscreening comments on the 23rd, so hurry. EDIT: not stopping unscreening, but it will be closed for new noms.

I do not know why I'm writing this in the Rich Text editor. Maybe I'm just too lazy to code simple HTML these days.

Boys are coming SATURDAY. \o/ \o/ \o/

(and GOOD NEWS on the TEEN WOLF front. I would like everyone to welcome my long-time friend [ profile] flaming_muse to the fandom. MWAHAHAHAHA YES. OH YES.) I feel like putting together a 'welcome to Teen Wolf fandom' packet with icons, meta, and fic recs for the newbies. I could totes do that.

My day started out with a discussion with my mom about whether or not the Bible says the earth is round. (Job 26:10 and also Isaiah 40:22)

Well, my Bible (JPS translation) doesn't say the same thing as Mom's KJV. And it's all weird, really.

If you are at all interested in what our discussion was about, Google 'circle of the earth'. There are some fun sites out there.

Then, after I had exhausted my Biblical knowledge and veered off to read Psalms (as you're wont to do), I got to beta an awesome fic! But that took a long time so now I haven't really done much else today.

So today's wordcount stands at 0. Perhaps I'll write a little bit of my Stiles/Stiles/Derek fic before dinner.

Someone bought me 6 months of paid time here at DW! I love DW, and I'm so so happy to get my icons back. Well, as soon as I reupload them. :D Thank you thank you, mystery gifter!

I finished my auction fic, and now it just needs to be beta read, edited (to hell and back, probably), and posted. \o/ (I almost made the sex really bitey and claw-y but then I was like 'what if my auction winner doesn't like that?' so I didn't go that route. I do want to write some bitey and claw-y sex, though. soon, self)

It's cold and rainy here. Yuck.

Icon making is more time consuming than I'd remembered. (most of the time is spent looking for the features previous versions of PSP had that PSP X4 does not have) Sometimes I wish I was a Photoshop person, but I tried it once or twice and it wasn't for me.

I can post polls again! This makes me happy. However, I have no idea for a poll right now, so I'll not do it.

I've been really posty lately! I hope no one minds. :D?

I was so disappointed when I found that there were no Elephant Princess fics on ao3. HOWEVER, I found some on

Also, I found out that my favorite character's actor has played a gay character in a short film or two. PICS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN.

I'm cooking. The turkey will be done in an hour and then I just have to make crescent rolls and dinner will be SERVED.

I've been playing a lot of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning lately. It's pretty good. The gameplay is great and the story is good and the best part is that you can 'change your fate'. If you don't like the way you've built your character, you can CHANGE it. You go to a 'fateweaver' and have all your points given back and you can start over with abilities and what weapons you are good with and what activities (like blacksmithing, alchemy, etc.) you're good at. It's really unlike any game I've played before in that respect. You can go in playing a warrior, change it to mage, change it to rogue, go more balanced, whatever you want! And that's part of the story, because you're called The Fateless One. Okay, any more and we're getting into spoiler territory, but it's a really good game if you like 3rd person RPGs. :D!

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. Well, by celebrate I mean those of you who stuff yourself and ignore the horrible cultural things about the holiday. (Is it better or worse than Columbus Day, do you think?) It is good to have a day specifically for saying what you're thankful for, though.

I'm thankful for my mom and everything she does (that doesn't suck). I'm thankful that Meg is alive and (mostly) well. I'm thankful for Zachary, who calls me now almost every day. Our relationship is better than ever. And I'm thankful for my son DJ, who is going to get over himself any day now. Also I'm thankful for my bestest online friends, [personal profile] schemingreader and [personal profile] omens and [personal profile] lim. (shh, don't tell, but they are my best friends PERIOD.)

hi. did you know there was a federal regulation that says if you're a college student, you have to work on top of that in order to get food stamps? but you know how much you have to work to get food stamps if you're NOT going to college? NADA. the woman who informed me of this lovely regulation says it's set in stone and there is no free pass on it.

wtf, america? how do I get ahead if I can't eat? my situation cannot be that unique. I can only go to school while meg is in school. come 2 o'clock, I've got to be home. I can't work on top of going to school full time.

eta: okay, I have done some research. I've read the regulation, and there's no exception for me. at all. there's no exception for students with children who are disabled. none. there's an exception for if you have a child 12 and under, but meg is 15. I don't know what I'm going to DO.

Yesterday, I found out that [personal profile] skywardprodigal passed away.

I've either known of her or known her for about 7-8 years, since I was in Buffyverse fandom. We weren't close, but we ran in some of the same circles and I admired her very much.

I don't know what else to say. It's still a shock.

These are some orgs that she recommended, if you want to give in her memory.

This loss will be felt deeply.

Here is a thread where people are leaving their thoughts @ a comm that was close to her heart, [community profile] multibeautiful.

and a fic rec.
It's called Two Breathe and it's a fic she was proud of. AtS. I know she's written many, many more and in a variety of fandoms, but this is the one I remember best.
