I've been getting a box of organic veggies and fruits from Misfits Market* every two weeks. (If anyone wants a code, hmu! the prices are good if you already buy organic, or even if you don't and want some good stuff for a change, plus it's FUN) So I picked mangos in this box and got sent two of them.

Here's the thing: I've only ever had mango from the store in a plastic container, already sliced, and I thought I didn't like it because they sold them... not ripe, I guess? the ones I had before were hard and not juicy, with very little flavor.

Today I had a ripe organic mango for the first time and it was practically an orgasmic experience. I've never tasted fruit so good before.

*the produce from Misfits isn't really ugly at all. It's always delicious, and sometimes it's slightly funny looking.

I KNOW RIGHT???? Guess how I felt the first time I had the chance to taste real fresh pineapple and not the canned things or the sorry fresh ones that have been shipped here raw...

Good mangos, like good avocados, are LITERALLY NATURE'S MOST PERFECT FOOD

I must shout this. It's so true. They're amazing and I'm so glad you had one! <3333333

ripe fruit is such an experience, it's true
I have such a love-hate with mango, because omg yes, when it's ripe, it's so delicious, but CUTTING THE BITCH makes me want to cry because it takes so much work? Worth it, though. Mostly. XD

The mango thing happened to me too. I could never figure out what all the fuss was about until I had a fresh dead ripe one on a vacation to Mexico. I've never tasted anything so wonderful.

I so feel you on this one. I thought I hated most tropical fruits because I'd only had them in the canned fruit salad variety. Turns out the fresh, ripe versions taste a whole lot better. <3

That's the one that I still didn't like much even fresh. lol

But it's definitely worth trying to find out if the same holds for you.
