hope is the thing with feathers

firstly, thank you to the people who sent gifts for my boys this season. I would not have had anything with which to get them stuff if not for your generosity. so much love. ♥

secondly, thank you to the folks who nominated me to receive DW points over at nanila's journal. I didn't know this was happening until just now when I got an email telling me I just got points! so to my friends who thought of me: you made my day so shiny.

I miss some of my friends who are still at LJ and not likely to leave. I understand, you have problems with DW or you don't want to leave LJ because of the people still there. You might end up like me, ignoring the ones you left behind. Or, like A, you hate DW with fiery death hate. I don't understand that, but I accept it.

THE PROBLEM IS THIS: I'm missing out on your important posts! Until a few days ago, I only had 1. a2zmom on a feed (which doesn't pick up locked entries) and 2. ladycat777 tracked so that I get entries in my inbox/email. That's it! Today I added like, one more person to tracking, but there's got to be an easier way to do this. I have many more people I want to follow who are only at LJ.

So here is what you can do to help me. If you have a DW with mirrored content and I don't have it added to my circle, LET ME KNOW. I will add you gleefully. If you are only posting at LJ, let me know that, too. I will figure out what to do with this knowledge.

I know some people on my flist read both places. In order to do that I will have to do a mass defriending at LJ, so if I go that route and you get cut, keep in mind that I'm reading you SOMEWHERE. Probably. :\ I might cut some people because of fannish drift or the whole 'we were never that close anyway, woe' but please don't take it personally if that happens.

OH. And if, like a2zmom you have a feed over here at Dreamwidth, it would be AWESOME if you let me know so I can add it.

we have a FENCE, so they're not actually in the yard, just running along outside it.

now the kids are going to make up stories about my mother, the actual wicked witch of the neighborhood. there will be dares to climb the fence and fetch balls from her collection. or something.

I need to go to the grocery store and buy non-thanksgiving foods.

I run out of meds on friday and do not have an appointment to get more until next wednesday.

OMG I HAVE AN ARTIST FOR DRAGON BIG BANG! Now I really have to finish the fic, huh? :P Seriously though, I'm so excited.

okay, there is this meme. and I was thinking: can I really do this meme? I hide like a turtle and stay distant from a lot of people. I've gotten to where I only IM with like, 3 people, where I used to stay in touch with my flist really well. I've gotten hermit-like. I hardly ever even read my flist/circle anymore because it feels like pressure to participate and acknowledge people. I DON'T KNOW. WHAT AM I SAYING. so I will do this meme, and if I need help I will scour your journal and come up with the answers with research. so there. I can do this. I need to do this in order to function as a human being in fandom, right? maybe not that dire. but still. I should do this. making an effort is important.

I just threw away all the written and addressed holiday cards I never sent from the past five years. seriously, five years. I AM STARTING OVER. This year is my year to send out cards.

( I woke up to it again -- TMI of the poopy variety )

I finished my dS fic and sent it off to beta. It's a full 10k over what it was supposed to be. But yay writing! Today I hope to start on my Vampire Big Bang because the story has been banging around in my head and I need to tell it.

I want to write the werewolf fic, but it doesn't seem to be happening any time soon.

I am not signing up for any more challenges. Nope.

I am going to post a poll and prompt post later for three_weeks_for_dw. I will write short fics (ha) and writing meta (double ha) on the topics YOU choose. But the content will only be at DW, so keep an eye on this journal.

I'm considering not crossposting for three weeks. I don't know if I can doooo it. Maybe I just won't crosspost the actual ficlets and meta.

There wasn't a lot of interest on my poll about Get Mikey Laid. I'm assuming that is because my flist is smallish on the bandom side? It CANNOT be because people don't like Mikey. I refuse to believe that. I still think I will try to run a smallish fest for it, though, and hope with some advertising it garners more support.

I would like a larger bandom community on Dreamwidth. Maybe I will start a squee comm, where comment fic and picspams as well as longer fics are welcome. Is anyone interested in something like that? I could start with a friending meme for DW and then move on from there. IDK, just thinking out loud.

In other news, my boys are coming tomorrow! At least, that is what J says. I can't wait to see them; it's been about 6 months.
