This is not something I generally do. I usually have a working title while I'm writing. Sometimes it's a good title and I keep it, sometimes it's just okay and I keep it anyway because I can't think of anything else.

I knew immediately that I Sing the Body Electric was going to be the title of my android fic. For Murder and Macaroni Art, the title came first courtesy of my friend MrsRidcully.

Prayers to a Lesser God is pretty much literally how the story starts: Peter's grasping at straws, praying to every deity he's ever heard of to save him and his pack from the fire.

Keep You Like An Oath, I think? idk, I'm not big on themes and such, or at least not at pointing them out in my own works.
9. Which best reflects the character voice of the story/POV of the fanwork?
Let the Light In, I think? But it's more of me talking to the POV character. YOU DESERVE GOOD THINGS, DEREK.

Feb. 15th, 2020 05:59 amSlow burn OR love at first sight: I like both, but if I had to choose, it would be the latter. Or maybe I like sick infatuation/obsession at first sight. Yes, we're already starting this meme off with Greenie flavor, sorry. But anyway, love at first sight doesn't automatically exclude slow burn, because maybe that trope only belongs to one character, and it takes awhile to get the other character on board. Like matefic where only one character can feel the bond? Yeaaahhhh.
Fake dating OR secret dating: Neither are tropes I particularly like, and that's being nice. Fake dating is too comedic for me, and secret dating is... well, I've kinda written it or at least alluded to it in my Stars 'verse with Chris and Peter having had a secret relationship as teens. That was nice and angsty backstory, I did like that. But I don't seek out that trope, either.
Enemies to lovers OR best friends to lovers: Enemies to lovers yessssssss. And not just 'enemies' but you know, *enemies*. I was gonna say "give me Voldemort/Harry" but I haven't actually read a whole lot of that. But the point stands that I want complicated, messy, angsty situations where someone is defying their peers and/or their own moral compass (or maybe discovering they aren't quite as moral - or immoral - as they thought, or that others thought) because they've found someone who understands them and who they love. Just yes. GIVE IT TO MEEEE.
Oh no there's only one bed OR long distance with correspondence: I guess only one bed? I've written it before but in my fics it rarely leads to actual sex, just like, intimacy. I don't like long distance in fics. I've had enough of that in real life.
Fantasy au OR modern au: Fantasy! Magic and fae or dragons or whatever. I don't read many modern AUs but I do write them occasionally? The current fic I'm writing for The Untamed is a modern AU.
Smut OR fluff: Hmm. Depends on my mood, and I don't like either on their own. There should be plot and angst flavored in with the smut and fluff respectfully.
Mutual pining OR domestic bliss: Oh my GOD give me ALL the mutal pining, yesssss. Domestic bliss is only fun for me if there's this undercurrent of OH GOD WHAT IS HAPPENING. Like if one of them has lost their memory and only THINK they should be living in domestic bliss. Or they've been Stockholmed. Or just.. idk, something is there and they don't know. Or maybe domestic bliss in the middle of an apocalypse.
Alternate universe OR future fic: AU - Canon Divergence. Every time. The 'what if' is my CRACK.
One shot OR multi-chapter: I'm more likely to seek out one shots but that's mostly because of my poor attention. I can read multi-chapter if it's coming out weekly or so, and I keep up with it. But that's the exception to the rule.
Kid fic OR road trip fic: Hmm. I like both? I don't like a LOT of either one, though.
Reincarnation OR character death: Depends who's dying and for why. I probably will seek out reincarnation (or resurrection) more readily than MCD.
Arranged marriage OR accidental marriage: Arranged. Definitely. Accidental marriage is too much like fake relationship for me with the comedic aspect, which just isn't my style. I mean, never say never, but nah.
Time travel OR isolated together: Time travel FTW. One True Trope.
Neighbors OR roommates: Meh. Neighbors, I guess.
Sci-fi au OR magic au: Magic AU. Or some speculative comglomeration of the two. Which, hey, is my latest idea for an original novel, and it's on my mind at the moment. (Future AU, Earth has been mostly abandoned, and the Tuatha Dé Danann come back to reclaim what's been turned into wasteland...)
Bodyswap OR genderbend: I don't like bodyswap AT ALL, and the only genderbend I like is Always-a-Girl, not sexswap, which I find... cringy, at best.
Angst OR crack: Angst angst angst. Or crack treated seriously. But just outright crack isn't my thing at all.
Apocalyptic OR mundane: *rubs hands together* APOCALYPTIC THANK YOU

I haven't been around DW or LJ much lately, but I haven't been around Tumblr lately, either, so all me interaction is coming through IM with two or three people. Which is great, that's fine, but I'm losing touch with my flist/circle, and I kind of hate that. I keep thinking 'I don't like the way fandom has changed' but I keep forgetting that a lot of the change I've been feeling is my own damned fault.

Jan. 30th, 2013 03:39 pmIt is so windy that it's knocking out our power. We've had a couple of outages today so far, but the electric company is keeping on top of things. So far, anyway. But the wind is really bad and we're worried it might do permanent damage to the house or surrounding trees. (as in, we're worried a tree will come FLYING through the house, but we're trying not to voice that fear out loud)

So, this morning I wake up with two words in my brain, and I had no idea what they meant. Flotsam and jetsam. So I look it up and the Google Machine tells me that they are maritime words to describe a wreck.
Flotsam is floating wreckage of a ship or its cargo. Jetsam is part of a ship, its equipment, or its cargo that is purposefully cast overboard or jettisoned to lighten the load in time of distress and that sinks or is washed ashore - wiki
I do not know where I picked these up, but dreaming about vocabulary words is MUCH BETTER than dreaming about my ex, which is what I've been doing all week.

tw_holidays is still posting fics, and is possibly wrapping up soon? Many many fics have been posted so far, one of them mine (though I can't tell you which one, that would be cheating!). The reveal is January 5th.
But I should also say thatsnape_potter is still posting fics for Secret Snarry Swap and some of the fics are just magnificent. I haven't had the time to read most of either of these fests, but I will say what I have read has been quality stuff. And yeah, I wrote for this fest too, and I'm floored by the reception my fic has gotten. I have NO IDEA when the reveal is, though. So I will just sit on the link to my own fic for now.
