around 1am my internet went out for awhile and instead of taking this as a hint that I should go the fuck to sleep, I watched some of my favorite vids. the ones I have downloaded. I rarely download vids anymore because it's pretty easy to watch the ones I want via streaming. but there are a few I've grabbed for my very own because I like to possess the things I love. (this is why I have very nice hardcovers of
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare and
Leaves of Grass that I never actually read from because I just read online when I want them. but I like to HAVE THEM.)
but anyway, vids.
I love vids very much.
A vid I want to have with me always and keep close so I can watch it again at any time is a due South vid by
fenlingsIt is
Needful (
link to Fanlore entry just because) and it is so perfect. There are many many MANY due South vids out there, and this one debuted in 2005, so almost 10 years ago, but when I watch it now all I can think is 'yes, this, this is Fraser and this is my show'. It is not technically perfect or cut for optimal facets and then polished like a perfect royal jewel, but it is overflowing with fannish love, the kind of love a vidder can pour all over their edited clips like, idk, school glue. you know, when you were a kid (or older, if you kept following your heart and arted this way, I'm looking at you, Amy) and you cut up every magazine in the house and made a collage with all the love and soul you had, and in the end it was something perfect? this is what I think of with this vid. it is.. it is just so FRASER. so much love. (I am now realizing how little sleep I've had and how this is affecting my words, but IDGAF)
And since I'm on the subject of FAVORITE and VIDS and DUE SOUTH, another vid I have on my hard drive for the above reasons is
sisabet's
Icebound Stream (
link to Fanlore entry) which I love for totally different reasons. The two vids could certainly be a little more different, so I can't say 'they couldn't be more different' but I am so full of hyperbole any other time (ALL THE TIME) so why am I holding back? If you've never seen Icebound Stream, I suggest you watch. That is, if you are a due South fan. I don't think I'd rec it if you aren't. Because you have to understand what it's saying to appreciate it. Because FRASER and VICTORIA and OMGWTFPOLARBEARS.
...and now I am reading a few of the comments that have been made about Icebound Stream and I am seeing some that are reccing it even if you aren't a fan of the show, but. I mean, I guess? But you won't FEEL it.
Maybe I should just say due South is a show you should watch.
