Gerard's goodbye is so much better than the PR announcement we got earlier. I cried. It's so Gerard, and yet not. Much more clear than I was expecting from him. I understand what he's saying about becoming self-aware. I've done this many times in my life and longed to get out of whatever it was I'd woken up from. I'm glad Gerard was able to do this. I worry that the other guys didn't have that same moment and that the band was taken from them before they got to the right point where they could let go. I hope that's not the case. I hope they all agreed it was time to breakup, but ... I don't know. And the way these guys close ranks and don't talk about things, it's possible we'll never know.

I still feel awful about the breakup, but it's okay.
