Hi, I'm greenie (or Green, if you want to be formal-polite), and I'm a 47-year-old weirdo who is back once again to play with the Snowflake Challenge!! Wooooo!!

Maybe we can get to know each other a little this month as we skip along the challenges together. (Hopefully, I'm skipping along and not outright skipping any like usual. Forgive me if that happens lol)

I love Snowflake because it gives me things to do and be excited about here on Dreamwidth, which is a place I love but don't spend enough time with.

Also, Snowflake frequently reminds me what's so great about fandom and fannishness to begin with!

It's a great place that I'm grateful for, but I bemoan the way fandom's gone lately, without contributing to the community that is right here and could grow. I probably could have worded that better, but I hope you know what I'm trying to say. 🙃

Hey there!

Fandom spaces have definitely changed. And it can be difficult sometimes to commit ourselves to a high level of engagement online. Making the effort totally counts, just do what you can do.

Also, Snowflake frequently reminds me what's so great about fandom and fannishness to begin with! Absolutely - and seeing such a breadth of fandom represented, and how everyone from all strokes interact with people, even if they have no fandoms in common. It's just joy making!

I'm on here every day, but I love the extra activity and fannish topics.

You might like the other big events like Three Weeks for Dreamwidth (April 25-May 15) and sunshine_challenge.

Agreed. Fannish 50 has been popular too, and there's also a post for people who put full content on Dreamwidth. They offer lots of nifty things to read. Also coming up is marchmetamatterschallenge for meta.

I've had the Fannish 50 signups open in a tab for a few days while I debate whether or not I want to try to do it. I love the idea of it, but I am the sort to get really down if or when I don't fulfill a 'responsibility' (even when it's low-pressure) I've signed up for. It's hard to weigh that against the fun aspect. :\

There's a different post listing many different Writing Challenges. Some are smaller, focusing on one month. allbingo hosts a new fest each month, and the Bingo Card Generator has sizes from 1x1 to 7x7. You might find something more suited to your size needs. 50 is a lot.
