Sooooo. I made some icons. I experimented a lot. Some of them came out really well okay and some of them ... didn't. I'm posting them all, so there! You have to sort through the bad ones to get to the good slightly better ones! Or maybe the bad ones will make the okay ones look even better. HA!

Under the cut we have many fandoms!

5 due south
4 labyrinth
7 brave
5 the goonies
4 stargate: atlantis
1 the princess bride
4 teen wolf
4 the avengers
4 doctor who
1 farscape
2 sherlock (bbc)
7 pitch perfect

examples:

bad: (just tell me to stay away from text altogether, okay?)

good: (at least, it seems okay to me. might be one of the bad ones!)

I focused overly on vibrant color on a couple of these, and went crazy with composition and blocking on others. Heh. (I meant to make a batch for [livejournal.com profile] theiconquest, but nothing I do is questy-enough. the first challenge is 'adventure' and you can tell I tried to do some adventure-themed icons here, but ugh. not ready. maybe the next batch.)

I don't save .PSDs, I hardly ever use scripts, and there's nothing in particular I do to every cap to prep it. I deal with every icon on an individual basis! however, if you would like me to explain approximately how I did something in a particular icon, I can try to do that. :D?

48 icons )

ALSO! I have some icon-sized textures I've been making. Is anyone interested in ones like this:

???

OR I could just write up a tutorial on how to make them, since they're super easy to make on your own and that way everyone isn't using the same textures, you know? Let me know what you think.

[community profile] iconthat is open again! a new cap challenge is up, so if you like icon challenges, go enter!

it got me thinking about opening a non-competitive icon comm along the lines of [livejournal.com profile] icon_spark on LJ. Does anyone remember that community? it was awesome. there were open challenges you could do any old time, and no contest. I liked it a lot. I found some of my old icons on there! I am sorta thinking of doing that here on DW. what I like about it is that anyone, no matter how 'good' or 'bad' they are at graphics, can be in on the challenges. and you don't have to worry about the same people winning or the same people not getting any recognition. idk, it's just a thought.

6756 words of tentacle fic so far! the last sentence I wrote was: Talking about their feelings is apparently something they do now.

3265 words of my killjoys crossover, but I have an OUTLINE now. and a title! "we don't need to know the way home" (totes stolen from the Thunderdome song)

I haven't worked on Mail Order Stiles lately (only 4471 words), because I want to get these first two out of the way first. MOS is going to be long and require a lot of my energy. I ... am actually starting to think it might not get done in time for the deadline of the Harlequin Big Bang. But I'm going to try. I love it already. It's just long and involved in my head and I don't want to leave out the blind horse subplot. :(

Ummmm. What else? I forget. OH. I haven't started my werewolf!Stiles fic and I'm not gonna until at least two of the other three BBs are out of the way.

And the next story in my Policy of Truth series is gonna get written in between all of this. Heh. I'm in the planning stages on it.
