I picked up the novelization of Star Trek today. \o/ It's interesting to read all the bits that didn't make it into the movie.
I want to write some writing meta, but I don't know what about. Does anyone have any particular interests?
I wrote a PWP that wants to turn into a story. I hate when that happens.
FIRST LINE MEME:
Give me the first line, and I will write a drabble/comment fic.

Shore Leave
When Kirk realized that the words 'beam him directly to sickbay' started to roll off the tongue easily, it was time to take a break. So he declared a three day holiday and had Sulu set a course for a nice, friendly planet.
They'd come upon Yami in the past, but they'd never taken the time to truly appreciate the planet's beauty and undiscovered pleasures. The crew seemed to let out a collective sigh of relief when they docked and prepared to take shore leave.
"Bones?" Kirk asked his CMO in the transporter bay. "Do you have plans?"
"I was thinking I'd just go wherever the night takes me," McCoy said. "You coming along?"
Kirk grinned and wrapped his arm around McCoy as soon as they beamed down to the planet.
"Sounds like a plan," he answered.

A dozen drinks later, in a bar that reminded Kirk of Earth, McCoy was doing impressions of their Academy instructors and Kirk was laughing so hard he thought he'd split his side.
"Cadet Kirk," McCoy mimicked, "you are clearly brilliant, and yet you are not-"
"-living up to my potential?" Kirk said, and then laughed again. "If they could see me now!"
"I'm glad to see the captaincy hasn't gone to your head, Jim."
"All I care about going to my head is a few more drinks," Kirk said, waving the bartender over. He ordered another round of ... something ... for him and McCoy, then gave instructions for the bartender to leave the bottle.
It was strong stuff, stronger even than the liquor Scotty made that he wasn't supposed to know about. McCoy and Kirk were smashed by the time they saw the bottom of the bottle.
"Where're we off to next?" Kirk asked, stumbling over the words. He had his arm around McCoy and he was slurring into his neck.
"Where you wanna go?" McCoy asked just as eloquently.
"The night is young!" Kirk said. "Bring on the dancing girls!"

One fight later, McCoy was stumbling along with Kirk towards transporter coordinates. They beamed into sickbay and McCoy started fussing - drunkenly - and shot Kirk in the neck with a hypospray. It was supposed to be for pain, but Kirk wasn't really feeling much pain to begin with.
"You're a very good friend," Kirk slurred.
"You are very drunk," McCoy admonished.
"So're you," Kirk said. "But you're my friend so I'll allow it."
"I think we got kicked off the planet," McCoy said. "So much for shore leave."
Kirk threw his arm around the doctor and grinned. "We can have fun on the ship."
"What are you suggesting?"
Kirk leaned in and gave McCoy a sloppy, quick kiss.

Chekov's skin is smooth, nearly hairless, and McCoy's stubble rasps against it, leaving a trail of pink. He likes the way it looks on the boy. He likes the flush, also pink, that starts at Chekov's hairline and inches down his chest.

"Wings?" McCoy said, his voice faint with disbelief. "You've sprouted wings?"
"Just get rid of them!" Kirk said. He shuddered and one holy-white feather drifted to the floor.
"I- I haven't been trained for this," McCoy admitted. "I've never even heard of such a thing."
His hand involuntarily moved to stroke Kirk's back, right between the shoulderblades where the wings protruded.
"That tickles," Kirk said. "Stop it."
"Does it hurt?" McCoy asked.
"They're a little heavy," Kirk answered. "They make me walk funny."
McCoy plucked a feather from Kirk's wings and grimaced when Kirk made a squawk of protest. "And that hurts!"
"Sorry, just testing. I guess cutting them off is out of the question."
Kirk frowned. "That would painful, I guess."
"If I can figure out why you've grown them, I can try to reverse the process. Let me scan you."
It took some wrangling to get Kirk's wings in a good position for scanning, but even after all that, McCoy had no idea what was going on.
"Have you changed your diet recently?" he asked. "Started using a new bodywash or shampoo?"
"Oh for god's sake, it's not an allergy," Kirk grumbled.
"Had unprotected sex with non-humanoids?"
"...Maybe."
"That's probably it, then," McCoy answered. He used his best doctor voice.
"Oh my GOD! Are you telling me this is an STD?"
"It's entirely possible. Good going, Romeo."
"I'd rather have space crabs."
"You've had space crabs," McCoy reminded him. "I'll never forget that summer. At least wings don't itch."
McCoy scanned some more and consulted the database. An hour later he said, "Uh huh. It's an STD. Good news is that it goes away in a day or two."
"What am I going to do in the meantime? I can't be seen like this."
"Jim, all of the nursing staff has already seen you, and they gossip like old hens. Especially Rupert, he's a real blabbermouth. By now the whole ship knows about your condition."
Kirk grumbled something to himself.
"What was that?" McCoy asked.
"I said I should never have had sex with a non-humanoid."

Not that Nyota was thinking about Kirk at a time like this. She was too busy thinking about Spock's tongue, and the way he twisted his fingers just right.
As she got closer, she bucked her hips and cursed. Spock looked up at her, raised an eyebrow, and then proceeded to suck on her clit. His fingers curled inside her, steadily moving.

But the Rysens had already seen the team in their skivvies and were consulting with a priest. Apparently showing a little skin was frowned upon on their planet. Without their utility belts and phasers, the away team was unprepared for the mob.
The team was arrested for indecent exposure and locked in a cell.
"How long until we get out of here, do you think?" Sulu asked.
"I have the utmost faith in our crew," Kirk said, scratching his chest. The prisoner's uniform he had been given was itchy. "I'm sure Mr. Spock is being as diplomatic as possible."
Eleven hours later, the team was let out of their cell and led to the stocks.
"We reached an agreement," Spock said, walking beside Kirk with his hands behind his back. "You will stay in the village square for one hour, to make a... statement, of sorts. Then you will be released."
Kirk was prepared for mockery, but not the rotten fruit.

She should have seen it coming. She was having a nice conversation with a pretty blonde when Kirk came by and said, "Who's your friend?"
Uhura shook her head fondly and said, "This is Tracy. Tracy, meet Captain Kirk."
"It's Jim, actually," Kirk said, leaning over the table and shaking Tracy's hand. "But you can call me Captain if you want."
"Tracy is a xenobiologist. She's transferring to the Enterprise tomorrow morning," Uhura said.

From a distance, Uhura watched as Kirk led Tracy somewhere more private.
