Pick a character I've written and I will explain the top five ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them.
OR I will just blather about that character without a 'top five'. I suck at lists. Also, I suck at canon characterizations so this might be good for me. or bad. let's see!

Sherlock saved John's life. I truly believe that. John was so depressed before Sherlock came into his life. His life was gray and dreary and suddenly there's SHERLOCK, who is a force of motherfucking nature. He brought color back, and action. Not only that, but he gave John PURPOSE, which is one of the things he was missing when he came back from being a badass
ninja.Speaking of badassery, it's always important to remember that John Watson is a BAMF. He will shoot you if you fuck with someone he loves.
And he does love Sherlock. It may be platonic in canon, but it is some deep, deep love. Sherlock is his savior and his friend and his flatmate and his date most nights and his partner in crime fighting and basically his everything.
He's also a skilled doctor. He can work under fire, literally, and has nerves of steel. I think that's another thing that makes him such a good partner for Sherlock. Where Sherlock gets manic and completely caught up in crime games, John can be steady and sane for him.
I probably have a lot more to say about John, but I can't think of it at the moment.
Thank you for playing!
