I feel like I'm in such a constant struggle (with Medicaid) to get my meds. They keep changing the rules on me (who can write prescriptions, what they will pay for, how they will pay, what the doctor needs to do to get them to pay...) and I'm going days or weeks at a time without meds. >:(

I hate that so much. It's poor medical care, it makes everyone miserable, and it wastes SO MUCH TIME.

Illinois used to have state-run Medicaid that was predictable and consistent. Then two years ago they farmed it out to a bunch of MCO's, and med authorization has been a nightmare ever since. We just hired a nurse to do nothing but authorizations, for all our clinics, because having to spend all that time arguing with various Medicaid plans for our patients was incredibly disruptive to all the other things the doctors and nurses are supposed to be doing.

I'm so sorry you're caught in the nightmare bureaucracy of it.
