I so humbly ask for your recommendations!

Okay, so the most wonderful thing happened to/for me... I swallowed my pride and asked for your help, and then BAM, a few people very very generously gave.

My new computer is supposed to arrive today. I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW EXCITED I AM.

New computer means downloading stuff to put on it, and this is where you come in. Below is the list I made of essentials I'll be downloading to get cozy, but I feel like I've missed some stuff. If you can think of stuff I should absolutely have and should not be living without, please to be commenting to let me know! It doesn't matter what the purpose of the software is, whether it's for maintenance or some other thing. It just has to be something you think I really should have or something you personally don't think you could live without.

(important info: new computer is a PC running Windows 8) (OMG WINDOWS 8! This one right here is running fucking Vista!)

greenie's list of essentials

Chrome
Avast
Deluge
VLC
Gtalk
Calibre
Libre Office
Spotify
WinRAR
Adobe
-Photoshop
-Premiere Pro
-After Effects
-Illustrator

Keyscrambler (it encrypts your every keystroke so hackers can't figure out what you type)
Spybot Search & Destroy (fantastic at finding and destroying spyware)
Ccleaner (works better than your recycle bin & can be run at startup)
Speccy (excellent for determining absolute computer specifications)
Skype (if it's not already pre-loaded)
Seamonkey (very stable full-featured browser with a WYSIWYG webpage creator)
Irfanview (great graphic viewer w/lots of extras, such as the ability to extract all the images from gifs)

Oh, and congratulations on the new computer. :-)

Mine is Windows 8, which frankly I hate, but have learned to work with. I'll give it one thing - it's very fast and so far, very stable. I hope you get much use from your new computer.

Just remember, if you open a box from the main multi-coloured box screen and you want to close it, drag your cursor to the upper left screen. All boxes show up and you can right-click on it (might take more than one attempt, as the boxes sometimes disappear before you can if you have clumsy-itis the way I do) and close it.

Also, that dragging your cursor to the upper right presents you with all the options, such as going to the main box screen and signing out or switching functions.
