fic postpartum

posting fic always has its downsides. especially if it's something you've spent a long time on. even if a lot of people seem to like it. it's like postpartum depression, maybe?

I feel:

anxious, because the story could have been so much better and I KNOW it could've been. and now people will read it and know I'm not that great a writer. bah.

depressed, because it's no longer mine and people can do with it what they will. like tear it apart if they want.

worried, because I may not be able to write anything else after this, what if this was it?

irritable, because... idk, I'm just irritable. blah.

guilty, because I could have done so much better! then I think 'maybe the next one will be better' but then I think ... it probably won't be!

It's a lot like postpartum depression! The loss of control over the piece (which we probably never had anyway, but it felt like we did while writing) is scary and upsetting.

The last fic on your list has only 100 fewer hits than my #1! <3

I get this way a lot myself. I put so much of myself on my fics and...I end up making myself crazy over it.

I have seriously considered giving up writing fic this year because of it.

Yeah, I try sometimes to just write for me but then the urge to post gets to be too much and I do it and then I'm depressed. Posting my last fic has left me a basket case to the point where I think I'm going to have to abandon the rest of TW ideas and move on.
