green | snowflake challenge day 11: my favorite BtVS moments

In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favourite interview, a book) and explain why you love it so much.

I was going to do a top five, but have a top ten. Plus a bonus.

Buffy's speech in Chosen:

What if you could have that power? Now. All of you. In every generation one Slayer is born because a bunch of guys that died thousands of years ago made up that rule. They were powerful men.

(points to Willow)

This woman is more powerful than all of them combined. So I say we change the rules. I say my power should be our power. Tomorrow Willow will use the essence of this scythe, that contains the energy and history of so many Slayers, to change our destiny. From now on, every girl in the world who might be a Slayer, will be a Slayer. Every girl who could have the power, will have the power. Who can stand up, will stand up. Every one of you, and girls we've never known, and generations to come... they will have strength they never dreamed of, and more than that, they
will have each other. Slayers. Every one of us. Make your choice. Are you ready to be strong?

STILL GIVES ME GOOSEBUMPS. and then comes the clips of Potentials getting the power. OMG. I cry. I cry every time that little girl catches the punch that's meant for her face, and stands up to her abuser. (can't find the cap, if you have one, lemme at it!)

and then there's the girl at bat, which sums it all up, I think.

From Becoming pt 2:

Angelus: No weapons... no friends... no hope. Take all that away and what's left?

Buffy: Me.

Also from Becoming pt 2 … you knew you’d see it when you clicked...

This is an iconic image, too. They say “I love you”, and (newly re-souled) Angel doesn’t know what’s happening, but Buffy knows she has to kill him to stop the apocalypse. SHE HAS TO KILL THE MAN SHE LOVES FOR THE SAKE OF THE WORLD. *weeps*

Amends is such a great episode, but this is my favorite bit:

Angel: Am I a thing worth saving, huh? Am I a righteous man? The world wants me gone!

Buffy: What about me? I love you so much... And I tried to make you go away... I killed you and it didn't help. And I hate it! I hate that it's so hard... and that you can hurt me so much. I know everything that you did, because you did it to me. Oh, God! I wish that I wished you dead. I don't. I can't.

Angel: Buffy, please. Just this once... let me be strong.

Buffy: Strong is fighting! It's hard, and it's painful, and it's every day. It's what we have to do. And we can do it together. But if you're too much of a coward for that, then burn. If I can't convince you that you belong in this world, then I don't know what can.

*whimper* How can I ship everyone in this show SO HARD?

This made me ship them ever so hard. Not necessarily romantically (though I’ve read my share of Buffy/Giles fic!). It’s just … Giles loves her so much.

Restless. The whole acid trip of an episode.

Once upon a time,

sisabet did a Restless vid to Gorillaz's Clint Eastwood, but she's since taken it down. But forever and ever that song will mean Restless to me. The future is coming on is so perfect for the entire thing.

Tara: You think you know what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

Spike in The Gift

Spike: I know you'll never love me.

[Buffy turns to look at him]

Spike: I know that I'm a monster, but you treat me like a man, and that's...

[she gazes at him without speaking]

Spike: Get your stuff, I'll be here.

and then when he cries at the end! *wibble*

Chosen, when Spike sacrifices himself

Buffy: I love you.

Spike: No you don't. But thanks for saying it.

Whether she meant it or not has been WIDELY and WILDLY debated.

Buffy’s last words to Dawn in The Gift

Buffy: Dawn, listen to me. Listen. I love you. I will always love you. But this is the work that I have to do. Tell Giles... tell Giles I figured it out. And, and I'm okay. And give my love to my friends. You have to take care of them now. You have to take care of each other. You have to be strong. Dawn, the hardest thing in this world... is to live in it. Be brave. Live. For me.

Intervention, when Spike thinks he's talking to the Buffybot.

Buffy: Why did you let that Glory hurt you?

Spike: She wanted to know who the key was.

Buffy: Oh, well, I can tell her, and then you won't...

Spike: No! You can't ever. Glory never finds out.

Buffy: Why?

Spike: 'Cause Buffy - the other, not so pleasant Buffy - anything happened to Dawn, it'd destroy her. I couldn't live, her bein' in that much pain. Let Glory kill me first. Nearly bloody did.

and he's all bloody and battered from Glory and Buffy kisses him. BE STILL MY SPUFFY-SHIPPING HEART.

BONUS SCENE:

This bit in Innocence:

Oz: Sometimes when I'm sitting in class... You know, I'm not thinking about class, 'cause that would never happen. I think about kissing you. And it's like everything stops. It's like, it's like freeze frame. Willow kissage.

(He nods his head and smiles to himself. Willow smiles over at him. He looks up at her.)

Oz: Oh, I'm not gonna kiss you.

Willow: (confused) What? But freeze frame!

Oz: Well, to the casual observer, it would appear that you're trying to make your friend Xander jealous or even the score or something. And that's on the empty side. (looks off into space) See, in my fantasy when I'm kissing you, you're kissing me. (looks back at her) It's okay. I can wait.

Seth Green was SO GOOD in Buffy, and Oz was the coolest guy, one of my favorites.
