Is the kindle still under warranty? Because you might be able to get them to replace it. Or if it's not, they might give you a discount for a new one, if you wanted to go that route.

I doubt my ex bought an extended warranty. I tried to get a hold of him last night to talk about the kindle predicament but he was sleeping (he works odd hours)

If it's under a year old, it's covered. You could try calling anyway, even if it's not, the Kindle customer service is pretty damn awesome.

It's over a year old. I will pass this info on to the ex, though. :)

Yeah, my mom's kindle died just after the warranty expired and they gave her $80 off a replacement. They also never actually asked for the broken one back.
