1. what was that challenge where you get the mix/art first and then write the story? reverse big bang or something like that? is it too late to sign up for it or was it just an idea people were kicking around? I found a couple of fandom specific ones (SPN, Trek, and SGA) but I thought there was a multifandom one. Or an HP one. I would sign up for a Harry Potter Reverse Bang.
2. what's your favorite due South vid? I've been watching Needful over and over again and OUCH, it hurts me. Fraser!
3. I am writing! \o/ I have 3k words of a story.
4. I just watched the trailer for the new Pegg/Frost movie and I am hopeful that the movie is better. But it has Jason Bateman!
5. I have new fonts. *GEEKS OUT*
6. handbasket_rpg needs a Fanlore entry*. since I'm technically still one of the mods, I think I'll do it. I just hope my memory is good enough.
As for beginnings, I remember that it was txvoodoo's (sarcastic) idea, stakebait created the RPG comm, and it was in response to criticism of the Alphabet Soup RPG.
ETA: omg, I just found the old FW entry and am reading the wank that started it all. I remember being like 'some of my frands write about real people and I'm sticking with them!' and now RPS is so much more accepted. Right? It's not as bad as it was. There were major defriendings over RPS back in the day.

2003 seems a little late to be having an RPS battle royale though. I mean, hadn't popslash been around for AGES by then? I'm pretty sure fanfiction.net had already started blocking it by then. It seems amazingly silly to me.
God, if she was all het about slash becoming "trendy" in 2003, lord knows what she thinks of it today
also, this rpg amuses me. So people RP as other LJ users? I'm fascinated, is this still active?

The RPG is not still active, but it was fun while it lasted. We had people RPing as actors, presidents, LJers, deities, everybody. It was awesome.

Oh man, rps was such a big deal back in the day. When I moved to popslash, which would have been around that time, I was told I was committing character rape on people by writing them and got defriended by a lot of media fandom people.
