are we looking at/for migration here from twitter? I would fucking LOVE that. I'm so baaaad at twitter, especially when I start thinking about using it for marketing and schmoozing. things I am bad at. I am also a lot more long winded than the average twitter tweet.

anyway, hi DW friends. I've been looking at the novella I wrote in Jan-Feb-March and realizing how much work it needs, but also that it needs to be a novel. And possibly first person POV, which I've never done before, but I keep seeing being done SO WELL in the books I read that I may just give it a chance.

to writers of books who are also writers of fic, do you separate your DW accounts? Rename them? I don't know what to do here. Nothing will be published for awhile still [shifty eyes] but i'd like to know what my choices are going forward.

also I signed up for a secret Santa and I have only written 126 words of it so far. [panicked face]

I hope people migrate from Twitter. I still can't navigate it easily and reading and just FINDINg thread fics is more difficult than the old days navigating around comment trees on LJ or here.

I guess - except i see things better here or on Tumblr. Twitter just has always seemed waaayyy too public a space to do fannish stuff in. It always seemed better suited to brief punchy humor or to politics and news bites.

I understand why people left LJ after it was bought by a Russian company. But here's DW and it's as secure as anything is these days and built around a platform that's always been user friendly.

TL;DR: or maybe i'm just old and set in my ways!

Ha, you and me both.

Good luck with your novella-turned-novel, and with the Secret Santa!

Yeah, I'd love more people around here. I've never understood Twitter in the first place.

Hm. I don't plan to separate or rename anything, not that I'm anywhere near publishing yet. I'm pretty much planning to imitate discontentedwinther/Lisa Henry as in having a fandom handle and a pen name and neither is tied to me IRL.

Hello!

I just missed this particular format of internet socializing so much I'm using this as and excuse to take another whack at it

I got a Twitter account when Twitter was new and a Tumblr account when Tumblr was new and a Pillowfort account when Pillowfort was new, but I've only ever felt "fandom comfortable" first on LJ and now on DW.

I did try to interact on Tumblr, but as you say, it's not designed for in-depth community feels.

*fingers crossed*

Good luck with your novella/novel! (I'm struggling with a WIP that needs a lot of work, too. *high five* We can do it!)
