In your own space, create a fanwork.

I made icons. I went with a "seasons" theme (colors more than content, though), and then I made two more. And there's a variation, too.

example:

summer:
I'm not entirely happy with the coloring on this one, but it's supposed to be summery? idk.

fall:

winter:

spring:

and two extras, plus a variant of spring.

icon making is really fun! lately I've been reading iconpraise for inspiration lately. (I can't create anything THAT good ... yet. but it's nice to look at the pretties)

These are quite lovely. I should make more icons, but I can't ever be bothered to do anything to them other than, you know, crop and save.

Thanks for the link. You're right: those icons are gorgeous. I doubt I'll make it that far in my icon making skills, but they are inspirational.

If you have the patience and ability to learn, you can do anything! I wish I had my old icons, I'd show you how bad I used to be and how far I've grown.

what program are you using? I could find a few tutorials for you that could get you started.

I'd start with spuzz's Tips for Icon Making and the other general tutorials before diving in to the more complicated things. (most of the tutorials are for PS or PSP, but I think they'll translate to your program)
