I hadn't seen my cat in a few days, but she's disappeared before and shown up again so I tried not to panic. This time, mom found her outside the fence and she'd been gone for a couple of days.

I'm kind of numb about it. I'm also feeling really guilty about not keeping her inside. But from the moment she came up to me on the porch, she's always been an indoor/outdoor kitty. She was housebroken, never had to use a litter box. Smart.

Ugh.




ETA: I wasn't clear. Jasmine died. When I said gone I meant dead.

:( Strays are just so hard to keep indoors sometimes. Our worst one used to tear holes in the patio door screen to get outside.

I've lost two indoor/outdoor cats to Outside Incidents. It hurt, because for ten years they'd both come home unscathed and then they didn't. But at least they had a warm home to come in from their ramblings, and they were happy and lived comfortable lives with us. That comforts me.

Jasmine is really pretty. I like that line down her nose; I've seen a few torties with that marking.
