My pet pairings are usually unhealthy and problematic ones, so I like Xue Yang x Xiao Xingchen the most right now. (in AUs and time travel and alternate timeline stuff mostly - lots of 'what ifs')
And yeah, the Wangxian in the live-action seemed like a foregone conclusion. While I did enjoy it, I feel no need to interact with the pairing in fic (except maybe as a secondary pairing?), and meta isn't my thing. I like pairings where I can fill in the blanks (or plot holes?) and stuff, and to me, it doesn't feel like enough left for me. I sometimes love a pairing so much that I want to see them fall in love in a gazillion different scenarios. This pairing isn't it, at least not for me.
