How old is DJ? When mine was 15+, I was ready to pay someone to take him away. He had Asshole down really well. He turned into a pretty cool adult, though. We still have issues, due to my family's religion, and his wife's religion. They Do Not Approve of me, and I don't want him to feel stuck, so I pretty much stay out of things. Plus, he's still in touch with my insane sister, and I don't want that kind of drama in my life. So, more staying away. That's our stuff; once your DJ gets older, he'll probably see things very differently. Just keep letting him know you love him, even though you refuse to tolerate shit behaviour.
